- The Who aren't who they used to be. The archetypal renegade
- band not only tore concerts and parties to pieces; they burned
- themselves out. Drummer KEITH MOON died of a drug overdose in 1978.
- Bandleader PETE TOWNSHEND'S hearing is shot. In 1982 Townshend,
- lead singer ROGER DALTREY and JOHN ENTWISTLE performed a farewell
- tour and drifted apart. Last week, however, the Who announced they
- will make a 25th anniversary tour, including a revival of their
- 1969 rock opera Tommy. "I've only just about recovered from seven
- years ago," says a much mellowed Townshend. "I hope to get through
- this with only a few aching limbs."
